My journey into chiropractic

Before becoming a chiropractor, I worked as a chef at the Japanese restaurant Ippudo in London.

While studying, I spent my summers working in my dad’s shop and continued working there for a couple of years after graduating. I eventually met Stuart through a mutual friend and joined Derby Family Chiropractic in October 2024.

My interest in chiropractic began after I injured myself while lifting something heavy. I tried the usual approaches but didn’t find the help I was looking for. My dad suggested visiting his chiropractor to see whether they could help.

The care I received made a real difference and sparked my curiosity about chiropractic. At that point, I wasn’t entirely sure which direction I wanted my life to take, so my dad encouraged me to ask the chiropractor more about the profession.

The more I learned, the more interested I became. That same chiropractor ultimately provided the recommendation that supported my university application.

I studied at the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic—now part of the Health Sciences University—and graduated with a 2:1 Master of Chiropractic degree in 2021.

What I remember most about my training is the support I received from my tutors. They went beyond the course material, sharing practical advice and techniques that weren’t always covered within the formal curriculum. Some of what they taught me continues to influence the way I practise today.

My experience and interests

Since graduating, much of my postgraduate development has focused on improving and refining my adjusting techniques. In particular, training with Paul Miller helped me develop the approach I use today.

My main clinical interests include posture, ergonomics and helping people maintain freedom of movement.

I particularly enjoy working with patients who want to understand their care and are interested in the advice I provide. When a patient is enthusiastic about learning, it makes me even more enthusiastic about teaching.

My goal isn’t simply to provide treatment—it is also to help patients understand the everyday factors that may influence how they feel and move.

I primarily practise Diversified chiropractic. This includes several of the techniques commonly associated with the clicking or popping sounds that people often connect with chiropractic care. However, techniques can be modified according to each patient’s needs, preferences and suitability.

My approach to chiropractic care

I see patient care as a team effort.

There is only so much that can be achieved during an appointment—the rest of your life is lived outside the treatment room. That is why I want to help patients better understand posture, sleeping positions, workplace ergonomics and everyday movement.

My aim is to make daily life easier while encouraging patients to think about their own habits and become active participants in their care.

What I enjoy most about being a chiropractor is using the practical techniques I have spent years developing. There is a real sense of satisfaction when a patient feels an immediate release of pressure or improved movement following an adjustment.

The most rewarding part of the job is hearing patients describe the progress they have made. That might mean returning to golf, moving more comfortably or finding that their symptoms are no longer interfering with daily life in the same way.

It is also rewarding when improvements allow patients to speak with the healthcare professional who prescribed their medication about whether they still require the same level of pain relief.

A common concern is that chiropractic adjustments will hurt or cause damage. Before providing care, I assess whether chiropractic treatment is appropriate and explain the proposed approach. I can then adapt the techniques used according to the patient’s health, comfort and individual needs.

One of my simplest pieces of advice is not to underestimate appropriate self-care. Something as straightforward as using an ice pack for short-term pain or swelling can sometimes be helpful. However, ice isn’t suitable for every condition, so I’ll advise you when—and when not—to use it.

Outside the clinic

Outside the clinic, my three main passions are gaming, raving and football.

I’m an avid PC gamer and regularly attend festivals, day raves and nights out with my brother, who shares my taste for bass-heavy music—particularly dubstep.

I’m also a massive Tottenham Hotspur supporter. As they say, there is no greater joy—or heavier burden—than being a Spurs fan!

My friends would hopefully describe me as quick-witted, funny and sarcastic, and as someone who generally makes a good first impression.

I’m definitely a night owl. My drinks of choice are masala tea or iced coffee, and I generally prefer everything ice-cold—with the important exception of my mum’s masala tea.

My favourite way to stay active is raving. Unfortunately, I can’t do that every day, so I also enjoy going for walks with my noise-cancelling headphones.

My favourite place I’ve visited is Bali, and when it comes to films, it’s difficult to beat a Leslie Nielsen classic.

Finally, if Tottenham lose, you are welcome to mention it during your appointment—but you should probably expect some friendly banter in return!
